At the outset we were expecting this to be the match of the century. Suzy (5'7", 162 lbs.) had watched intently as big Joanne (5'8", 202 lbs.) had worn down her powerful British "sister" (Sara) in a previous contest. From the moment they locked up to test each other's strength, the American girl knew she was in trouble. Suzy first goes low, and a crushing weight comes down on top of her, pinning her solidly to the mat. She then tries to go high, a move which also proves fatal. In virtually every instance she is thrown to the deck (sometimes from an uplifted position), outmuscled by a clearly superior press. It was a little bit hard to believe that a female with such great upper body strength could have her big s staked to the mat time after time. "I gave it all I had, but I just couldn't do anything against her", said Suzy dejectedly afterward.
